Day 1: Arriving in Denver

We travelled by plane from Ontario to Denver via Las Vegas. We had several delays because there was a sprinkle of rain in Las Vegas, but thanks to a portable DVD player (Ryan won from a work party) the children were well behaved and got through it quite well.

Maya had the quote of the day:
turbulence forced the flight attendant to cancel the drink orders from Ontario to Las Vegas. On the next flight when the flight attendant took our order, Maya commented "Well, I hope this one gets it right."

We met up with my mom who finished her mission and flew to meet us from Salt Lake City. We rendezvous-ed at the Denver airport. The girls were quite excited to see their Grandma Dixie. We gathered all our luggage and rented a van.

We arrived at Ryan's cousin Renee's house (in the Commerce City suburb of Denver) at about 8:30 pm where Renee, husband Phil, daughter Delaney (shown here with the remains of a chocolate pretzel), and cousin Scott with wife Toni were waiting with open arms, bbq burgers with all the fixin's, and central air. After all the travelling, it was so nice to be greeted like that .

Renee & Phil's house is lovely and large and they provided us not only with a place to stay for two nights, but also with incredible hospitality, making our stay extremely comfortable. Renee made us breakfast both mornings we were there and Delaney kept us entertained. She is only sixteen months old but can communicate very well and does an imitation of a bear growl that is both hilarious and surprisingly accurate.

Hello Caress Family. I have thoroughly enjoyed traveling through time with you in your blog. You are a dedicated blogger Lisa, and I'm so far behind that it will be the end of the year before I ever get another thing posted. I guess that's what retirement is all about. Living the dream and keeping it to ourselves. lol

The girls are growing up way too fast. Can you slow it down a little (lol) because it means we're getting older. Such is life.

Love you guys.
